Port operators of all seaports of Ukraine handled 153.08 million tons of cargo last year. Thus, the total volume of cargo transshipment, compared to the indicator of 2020, decreased by 3.8%. These are the data of the "Administration of Seaports of Ukraine".
In 2021, 118.1 million tons of export cargo were transshipped in Ukrainian seaports, which is almost 4% lower than the corresponding figure for 2020. Imports reached 24 million tons (+1.5%), the volume of transshipment of transit cargo did not exceed 8.6 million tons (-14.3%), coastal cargo decreased by 2.4% and amounted to 2.3 million tons.
Most of all, the ports handled grain cargoes and ore. Thus, 49.9 million tons of grain were transshipped, which is 3.9% more than a year earlier, ore - 37.75 million tons (-14.8%).
The transshipment rate of petroleum products increased by 82% and amounted to 1.93 million tons. The volume of transshipment of building materials also increased significantly: a total of 3.88 million tons of these cargoes (+ 69%) were processed in the ports of Ukraine.
In addition, in 2021, container turnover decreased by 2.6%. Export container traffic decreased by 3.6% to 477,764 TEU, import traffic by 1.7% (to 500,754 TEU), transit traffic by 1.7% (to 43,503 TEU). In total, 1,021,621 TEU were processed in the ports of Ukraine. By the way, the port of Odesa accounts for 65.7% of the total container turnover in the country, Yuzhny - 23.3%, Chornomorsk - 11%.
According to the results of 2021, the volume of cargo transshipment in five seaports of Ukraine exceeded the figures of the previous year and amounted to 25.63 million tons in the port of Chornomorsk. tons (+7.3%), in the port of Olbia – 5.14 mln. tons (+31.6%), Ishmael – 3.9 mln. tons (+20.4%), Reni – 1.37 mln. tons (+74.3%), Ust-Dunaysk – 64.3 thousand tons. tons, which is 2.6 times higher than in 2020.
Three Ukrainian ports managed to come close to the previous year's figures. Thus, the cargo turnover of the port of Mykolaiv in 2021 amounted to 29.8 million tons (-1.1%), the port of Odesa - 22.55 million tons (- 3.5%), Mariupol - 6.8 million tons (-2.3%).
